Dear Friends in Christ,

"Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel has ransomed captive Israel". May the joy of this holiday season fill your hearts and homes.

The anticipated seasons of Advent and Christmas are quickly approaching. This will again, as in seasons past, be a wonderful time of preparation, reflection and celebration. Of course we will be enjoying a lot of traditions. Traditions are always superseded by truth. The truth is "When the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman." As we make our way through the season of Advent toward Christmas, lets not forget that most important truth.

The season of Advent is a time of preparation. We do not only wait in anticipation of the celebration of Christmas but like the people in the time of Christ's birth, we live with the expectation of the coming Messiah. He came before to redeem us. We wait now for Him to retrieve us.

This season is also a time of reflection. We consider our lives and our faith. How is it going? Is it growing? Am I ready for Christ's return? If I were to die today would I go to heaven? Do I trust in God's grace in Jesus for my salvation? Am I living in faithfulness to Christ and His church?

With the arrival of Christmas we celebrate the grace and mystery of God in sending His Son into the world. I pray that the mystery of God's incarnation (becoming human) will never grow old or stale for you.

Don't forget the Advent midweek services and dinners this month along with the special Christmas services. If you haven't been attending worship with us, now would be a great time to return. We miss you.
